About This Service

This area of intervention focuses on how a child moves, processes sensory information, and manages everyday activities. Physical development and sensory regulation form the foundation for independence, affecting everything from posture and coordination to attention, self-care, and participation in school tasks. Physiotherapy addresses gross motor function and neuromotor development, including muscle tone, strength, balance, coordination, gait, and posture. Occupational therapy complements this by focusing on fine motor skills, sensory processing and integration, visual-motor coordination, and activities of daily living such as dressing, feeding, and writing. Together, these therapies are delivered as a coordinated approach supporting both movement and function so that physical ability translates into meaningful, everyday independence.

What to Expect

The process begins with a comprehensive assessment across both domains. This includes evaluation of muscle tone, range of motion, strength, balance, coordination, gait, and overall movement quality, along with assessment of fine motor skills, sensory processing patterns, visual-perceptual abilities, and functional independence in daily activities. Physiotherapy (Movement & Mobility): Sessions focus on improving strength, posture, balance, and coordinated movement using evidence-based techniques and specialized equipment. Occupational Therapy (Function & Sensory Integration): Intervention focuses on fine motor control, hand function, visual-motor coordination, and independence in self-care routines through structured, purposeful activities. Home-based programs are provided to support carryover, ensuring gains made in sessions extend into daily routines.

Who It Helps

Children who experience challenges in movement, coordination, sensory processing, or everyday functional tasks. This includes children with gross or fine motor delays, difficulties with balance or posture, abnormal muscle tone, gait variations, or sensory processing differences. Particularly relevant for cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, developmental coordination disorder (DCD), ASD, ADHD, or post-injury rehabilitation.
